I thought journalists had sources and contacts that could find out what's going on....

....are the Jets working with possible investors, etc...to help finance the stadium or what?...

David

Geez Dave, Take it easy. (Although I like the new name!)

The Jets are working through their options. I've had conversations with them, there is nothing to report. When they decide, we'll report it.

Obviously, the Meadowlands is a real live option now, but the West Side is also an option. (See letter, below) Even Queens is a possibility, although obviously a long-shot.

Will the Jets put down the down-payment for the rail yards? That will tell us what is what. We'll know, soon enough.

In the mean time, we'll try to stay topical, with general stadium-related articles. Stadium related covers some broad ground, from eminent domain issues to political stuff to the naming rights of ball parks in America. And we'll let rip an occasional spout-just-to-spout!

Which Way are We Going?

Tom, the more I look into this, the more I'm thoroughly confused.

Some sites, like westsidejets.com and jetsinsider.com, claim that the Jets are merely waiting until after the election to proceed with the West Side development. Both those sites have stories written by Susan Bracci, and frankly, I don't know what her credentials are.

Then The Times and The Star-Ledger have the Jets ready to stick it to the fans again and move to New Jersey. Which one is the truth?

Hi Jeff,

I know Susan. She is very dedicated, so you should always consider what she writes.

As for The Times and The Star-Ledger, they both have an agenda. Now, I'm not saying Susan is more credible than The Times, but then again, Susan never ran a headline like the infamous "Stadium to Send Sewage Into River" that The Times ran last year.

The truth is somewhere in between. The Jets are in no rush now to get a deal done. They will continue to negotiate with New Jersey and the Giants, but I doubt that anything will get done before New York City's elections this November.

I expect the Jets to move after the elections, one way or the other, but as of now, they are straddling a very comfortable fence. They have a lot of leverage with the Giants and New Jersey, and they still have the rights to the Hudson Rail Yards. I doubt they are interested in another Battle Royale over the West Side, but if things shake out in their direction, they will find a way to get the West Side Stadium built.
