Many lawyers will be making their payments on their summer homes in the Hamptons early this year, as the deluge of frivolous lawsuits continues. One problem for the opposition, though, is that no one really cares, hence, the lack of press coverage.
STADIUM GETS ANOTHER HIT April 26, 2005 -- A coalition of West Side residents, elected officials and a community group slapped the MTA yesterday with yet another lawsuit to block the sale of the agency's rail yard to the Jets for a new stadium. The lawsuit is the fourth legal challenge to the sale of development rights to the Jets for $250 million. It charges the MTA with short-changing its riders and the public. Earlier legal challenges to the MTA's sale were filed separately by Madison Square Garden, Public Advocate Betsy Gotbaum and several transit watchdog and good-government groups. A state Supreme Court judge has set a May 3 hearing on the lawsuit filed by Madison Square Garden. Tom Topousis
