Tom McMorrow the Elder took exception to a snide crack by Kevin Barker in an article on the history of Shea Stadium, so he did what he is prone to do in such circumstances- he wrote a letter to the editor at The New York Times. The Times ran the letter on Sunday, 7-10-05, in the City Section.

To the Editor:
Kevin Baker did a decent job for three-quarters of his article about Shea
Stadium (".'The Worst Ballpark in the World,'." July 3), and then
unaccountably shot himself in the foot.
  His gratuitous comment, "good riddance," when reporting on the Jets'
departure for New Jersey, was insulting to every Jets fan reading it. What
in the world brought on such an uncalled-for comment?
The Jets gave us many thrilling and joyous moments in Shea Stadium. We
hated their going to someone else's ballpark in another state.
